Feng Shui Color Meanings
Red Wall and Bamboo Trees Picture Love Feng Shui, feng shui for love, romance and marriage! How to use Feng Shui in marriage.

Colors are an important aspect of Feng Shui. What are the best Feng Shui colors? Some say red, blue, green and gold. What do all these colors mean in Feng Shui?

In order to understand colors in Feng Shui, you must understand what each color represents. The color blue is connected to water. It is calming and can create a sense of tranquility. Water is the essence of all life and can nurture things to grow. Green is the color of growth, allowing things to move upward and rapidas in spring. Red is the color of fire, warmth, and excitement. Earth tones tend to be grounding because they bring the earth to us in those shades. For example, yellow is the sun, which gathers and shares energy, creating mental agility. Metallic colors are the money colors…gold, silver, and bronze.

How you would use these colors as part of Feng Shui to send a desire or message to the outside environment? Think first of a red sign with gold arches. That’s right, McDonald’s. Many Chinese restaurants use red to represent prosperity, which excites people so they will eat more and quickly leave space for the next group to show up.

I have a tendency to be cautious when using red because of its impact, so study the situation before applying. Think about the message of red lipstick or that red dress. Black contains all other colors, which is why the little black dress is a must! Of course, black has its serious and somber side.

Gray has a tendency to fall into the metallics, but you must evaluate it by its shade. It can lend itself to the blue family, just as some yellows can lend themselves towards hints of green. Purple is the highest octave of red. Instead of using red, use purple when raising the vibration in a more subtle level.

Here is a quick check list of using the colors:

Use blue to create nurturing with a green to make things grow.

Use red being a bonfire to be recognized immediately.

Use the pinky, peachy colors to attract.

Use metals to make a statement and black to tell it like it is.

Use purple as an uplifting color, inviting all good things to be attracted.

The reason they dress baby boys in blue is to calm them down. Baby girls are dressed in pink to give them more energy. Have fun with colors and find out how they suit you and your life.

@Pamela: I think Wood is considered Yang, and Metal is considered Yin according to the five Chinese elements. You should really look it up for yourself, it's difficult to explain the whole thing.

Now that I think about it, there was a Chinese doctor in the mall where I lived back in Scotland, and his place was very inviting. He used a good bit of Feng Shui in the place, and it was always a welcoming place, it was small but it didn't feel it at all.

Explains my bosses filing system. He puts urgent things in red folders, reports and other serious things in black folders, and newsclippings and other good news in purple ones.

Several years ago I realized I was feeling "out-of-it" - just really "blah." And then I noticed (for the first time in 10 years) that my entire house was Beige (and Beige is exactly how I felt). So I called in the troops (Mom and Sisters) and repainted all the main rooms. And, in truth, I noticed a change in how I felt. More With It...less beige. It's interesting how the colors we surround ourselves with really can have such a strong effect on our psyche.

Lavern, that is an interesting question which I would like to know the answer to. I usually have a black purse and money never really lasts long in my purse. Maybe it is time to beginning considering the color of my purse. I have never really thought of it. May be green would do more good than black

Just as I am so curious, what would be the best color for a wallet? As we all know that it is in the wallet were we put our money. I’m just curious as to what lucky color do we associate our wallet or purse so that we would not run out of money. For me, I prefer black or something dark is that color good or it just depend on the person handling the money? Thanks.
